Biometric multimodal security simulation on schedule Ii controlled drug

    Get PDF
The paper present a multimodal (multi biometrics) security system focusing on the implementation of fingerprint recognition and facial feature recognition to enhance the existing method of security using password or personal identification number (PIN). This project is operated through a personal computer where all the identification for fingerprint and facial feature are done by using specific software. Successful identification will send a signal through a serial communication circuit and open an application. In this project, the final application should be a cupboard that store and secure schedule II controlled drug in hospital. Due to some problem, the final application was replaced by using a light emitting diode (LED) simulation circuit

Accuracy of self-evaluation in a peer-learning environment: An analysis of a group learning model

There is a global competitive demand for graduates with soft skills, and higher education institutions are tasked to reduce the employee skill gap. Thus, we investigated the students' perceptions of peer assessment in facilitating engagement in soft-skill development through group work activities. Using group work to measure the effectiveness of students' feedback on their assessment, we posit that students perceive self-assessment in group work as a tool that represents fairness. By focusing on learning in a peer-assisted learning environment, the study is a two-period different observation on the effectiveness and validity of peer assessment practice. We applied a group learning model over two academic sessions to investigate if students can self-evaluate accurately in a peer-learning environment. The employed methods included both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The findings of the study differ from previous findings that students cannot self-assess accurately. Empirically, there was no significant difference between the peer marks and tutor marks. The study also found that peer learning improves students' quality of assessment as they reflect on their work better

Wave reflection at a free interface in an anisotropic pyroelectric medium with nonclassical thermoelasticity

In this paper, the well-established two-dimensional mathematical model for linear pyroelectric materials is employed to investigate the reflection of waves at the boundary between a vacuum and an elastic, transversely isotropic, pyroelectric material. A comparative study between the solutions of (a) classical thermoelasticity, (b) Cattaneo–Lord–Shulman theory and (c) Green–Lindsay theory equations, characterised by none, one and two relaxation times, respectively, is presented. Suitable boundary conditions are considered in order to determine the reflection coefficients when incident elasto–electro–thermal waves impinge the free interface. It is established that, in the quasi-electrostatic approximation, three different classes of waves: (1) two principally elastic waves, namely a quasi-longitudinal Primary (qP) wave and a quasi-transverse Secondary (qS) wave; and (2) a mainly thermal (qT) wave. The observed electrical effects are, on the other hand, a direct consequence of mechanical and thermal phenomena due to pyroelectric coupling. The computed reflection coefficients of plane qP waves are found to depend upon the angle of incidence, the elastic, electric and thermal parameters of the medium, as well as the thermal relaxation times. The special cases of normal and grazing incidence are also derived and discussed. Finally, the reflection coefficients are computed for cadmium selenide observing the influence of (1) the anisotropy of the material, (2) the electrical potential and (3) temperature variations and (4) the thermal relaxation times on the reflection coefficients

This study explored academic advisors\u27 perceptions toward academic advising implemented at public universities of Malaysia. Using a qualitative research design with cross-site analysis strategy approach, interviews were conducted with eight academic advisors from four Malaysian public universities. Each interview session was assisted by the interview protocol. The interview was recorded and transcribed verbatim. The qualitative data was analysed in the form of thematic analysis with the assistance of NVivo12. Several themes emerged from the initial analysis. Further analysis using several coding and themes revealed one advanced theme namely the outcomes of academic advising and four sub-themes related to student development: academic development, personal development, social development, and career development. This study found that academic development, personal development and career development were the first, second, and third themes most stated while the subtheme social development was hardly stated by the academic advisors when asked regarding their perceptions towards academic advising. The finding of this study implies that social development of students was not part of academic advising tasks of academic advisors from the perspective of Malaysian public universities

EnglishIntroduction: The main purpose of this study is to identify the effect of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with Heurisctic Krulik and Rudnik Strategy and the realitionship between students\u27 critical thinking and achivement by using RME with Heuristic Krulik and Rudnic strategy. Method: A quasi experiment research design was implemented in this study to achieve this purpose. The instruments used in this study are observation and test. The participants of this study consist of 60 students from Va grade and Vb grade in SDN Sungai Miai 5 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Result: The finding of hyphothesis test shows that 1) there are significant difference of crictical thinking and achievement between RME with heurisctic krulik and rudnik strategy group and conventional learning group and 2) there is significant realitionship between critical thinking and achivement by using RME with heuristic krulik and rudnic strategy
